What are Beliefs

This video is a bonus extra on beliefs and is made for the public, not just NLP students. I highly recommend you watch it.

People often refer to limiting beliefs, changing beliefs, or creating empowering beliefs. But what are beliefs?!
While it is nice to hear a friend say “You just have to believe in yourself” the question is, when did your beliefs become so disempowering? Let’s explore what are beliefs so that you can change them.

Belief Change with NLP

During NLP Practitioner training, you will learn the exact steps to change your and your client’s beliefs. The question is, what belief will you change?

  • “I have to work hard for money”
  • “I can’t get what I want”
  • “I am not enough”

What would your life be like if you lived with empowering beliefs?

NLP Submodality Belief Change

Beliefs are simply generalisations and assumptions about ourselves and our world. They are the rules that govern our thoughts, our lives, and our behaviours and dictate our happiness levels. Beliefs are not necessarily true.

However, beliefs are really important in supporting us to create the success that we know we deserve. If we have beliefs that hold us back, they become a stumbling block that keeps us in our patterns of feeling stuck, anxious and overwhelmed. Many times these limiting beliefs were formed when we were a child.
Thankfully NLP has given us a variety of methods to change beliefs. The NLP submodality belief change process is a good starting point for understanding the building blocks of our mind that code our beliefs. We tend to use this process to change a simple belief.
While the outcome of this process can be lifelong, a client always has free will to undo this process. It is important to coach your client to create compelling belief changes that are in their best interests moving forward. This process is good for beliefs such as:
  • I can’t do something.
  • I am limited.
  • I am not smart enough.
  • I am not valuable.

Coach your client to choose a belief that will best to assist their goals and dreams. You can achieve this by making certain that the new belief includes these powerful criteria:

  • Specific and focused.
  • Resonates with the client (not the coach).
  • It has a clear outcome.
  • It stirs desire.
  • The belief is ecological and causes positive change.
  • It has enough personal ‘why’ within it.

submodality Like to Dislike

During our NLP training, we look at ways your neurology changes with the submodality belief change using food.
Once you are convinced how easy it is to change a belief about a food, making it someing you like to something you dislike… it is undeniable the other conceptual belief change works too!
