Understand Your Emotions:

Is Life Pushing Your Buttons?

How to Heal What It’s Really Telling You

Welcome,

If you’re here, it means your body has softened enough for reflection.
This space is designed to calm the nervous system, a place where insight, clarity, and self-understanding can land gently.

Why You Get Triggered

When you feel emotional, what’s happening isn’t sensitivity or drama; it’s an old coping pattern activating.

These patterns were formed long before you had the language to explain your experiences. They were your earliest ways of staying safe, staying connected, and making sense of a world that didn’t always meet your needs.

Most triggers come from early experiences where you learned:

  • Who you had to be
  • What you had to hide
  • What you had to tolerate
  • What you had to sacrifice to stay accepted or safe

When something triggers you today, your mind and body often revert back to the age when you first felt unseen, unheard, or undervalued.
It feels vulnerable because, in those moments, your nervous system is responding as if you’re still that younger version of yourself,  the one whose needs weren’t met, whose feelings weren’t understood, and who had to adapt to survive.

That’s why the trigger feels so big.
It’s not about the present moment; it’s the past asking for your attention.

Beneath almost every trigger is a silent question:

  • How do you want me to be?
  • How can I be enough, so I belong?
  • What do I need to prove so I matter?

These questions once protected you.
Today, they keep you small.

Healing begins when you recognise the pattern, understand where it came from, and gently reclaim the power you gave away to stay safe.

 Limiting Emotions: Signals, Not Flaws

Limiting emotions aren’t problems to fix; they’re invitations to understand yourself more deeply.

  • Shame: Feeling like you’re failing someone’s expectations
  • Guilt: Believing you’ve done something wrong, even when you haven’t
  • Frustration: Feeling blocked, stuck, or unable to move forward
  • Anger: Feeling unheard, dismissed, or powerless
  • Resentment: Overgiving without boundaries, hoping someone will finally notice

Each emotion carries wisdom.
Each one shows you where you’ve been outsourcing your worth.

The Deeper Work: Reclaiming Your Power

Once you see the emotional pattern, you can begin exploring the deeper layers:

  1. Why you give your power away

Where did you learn to shrink, silence yourself, or over‑function?

  1. What you’ve been taught to tolerate

Which behaviours or expectations have you accepted because you thought you “had to”?

  1. Who you had to be to stay accepted

The roles you played, the masks you wore, the parts of yourself you hid.

  1. Who you are underneath all the “shoulds”

Your real self.
Your intuitive self.
Your grounded, authentic identity.

This is the path back to yourself.

Signs You’re Returning to Your Authentic Self

Healing doesn’t make you perfect; it makes you you.
Here’s what that looks like:

  • feeling comfortable in who you are
  • living as your true self, not the version you learned to be
  • trusting your gut, body, and heart
  • respecting your own and others’ individuality
  • responding to the present, not reacting from the past

These aren’t goals to chase.
They’re the outcomes of reclaiming your power.
