In Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), representational systems refer to how people perceive, process, and communicate information. We take in information in four main ways: Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Auditory Digital. These methods affect how we communicate. When information like pictures, sounds, or feelings reaches our brain, we give it meaning and create our view of the world. Everyone has a preferred way of processing information.
Although we use all representational systems, we tend to have a preference, much like our favourite food types. For example, some people focus on how things look (Visual), while others prioritize comfort and feelings (Kinesthetic).
Miscommunication can occur if we don’t recognize these preferences. Understanding how others process information, we can communicate better, build trust, and create stronger connections.
This questionnaire document explains the representational systems and how to determine your primary system.
